Reparative justice as an action

I am white, and I am using some modalities that have an ethnic, cultural and Indigenous heritage that are not my own ancestry. For that reason, as a decolonizing practice and reparative justice action, I offer some monthly slow coaching sessions free or donate what you want (see bookings page for more information) to those coming to this practice from a multitude of racially powerful and underrepresented communities. Communities such as Black, Indigenous, First Nations, Brown, South American, Central American, Puerto Rican, Hawaiian, South East Asian, East Asian, Asian, Chinese, Indian, Iranian, Afgan, Kurdish, Assyrian, Persian, Iraqi, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Arabic, Islamic, Palestinian, Pacific Islanders, residents of the Global South - knowing this list will keep growing as I keep learning and goes beyond a simple, neat acronym. This awareness continues to evolve, shift, grow as I learn and unlearn.

Reparations will also enacted by giving 10% of my Slow Coaching income to a variety of organizations that include Black & Pink, Navajo & Hopi Families COVID Relief Fund, Kusimama Africa/No White Saviors, and this awesome book project.

As a white Global North based person, I continue to research and learn. As such I am always on the look out for generative articles such as this. Favorite quote: reshaping that narrative (US notion of meritocratic, rugged individualism) and dismantling systems of oppression will require more than just new labels. I understand there has to be a continued sense of discomfort with the unlearning this involves so there isn’t a rushing to use ‘the correct’ new label and job is done with that. We are in a (great?!) time of dismantling colonization.

Also, I love essay, article and book recommendations, if you have any please email me whataslowcoachatgmail.com.
